Our dedicated, energetic families and staff are busy year-round planning events that play a major role in the ongoing funding of our children’s therapy programs.
We welcome your help in ensuring their success. Together we’ll make a difference for kids with autism!

The Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon 2020 went virtual!

From October 1 to November 21, 2020
Participants walked or ran, and raised funds for kids with autism

And while this year was challenging, we’re excited to announce

Giant Steps’ team won FIRST PRIZE from Scotiabank for Most Fundraising Participants at the Scotiabank Charity Challenge this year!

That’s #1 amongst 163 charities in the GTA and another $6,000, bringing our total to $68,000!

HUGE THANKS to Scotiabank, Canada Running Series and every one of our 72 walkers, runners and donors.

Because of you, the kids with autism we serve are the real winners!

Every dollar raised will help fund our hands-on speech, occupational and behaviour therapy programs this school year.

We couldn’t have done it without YOU!

GIANT STEPS HAS NOW RAISED OVER $1.4 MILLION DOLLARS since we began participating in this event in 2004.

We are in great company with Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, SickKids Foundation and Fountain of Love & Life, all of us members of STWM’s Million Dollar Club!

Our heartfelt thanks to Scotiabank and Canada Running Series for enabling charities like ours to participate in a world-class event and fulfill our mission. Scotiabank generously pays for the online transaction fees, enabling 100% of donations to come directly to Giant Steps.

Giant Steps is privileged to be one of the 40+ local charities that benefit from gaming at Bingo World Richmond Hill.

Our parents support this charitable initiative by volunteering at Bingo sessions, and we are fortunate each year to receive significant funds for our kids’ Occupational Therapy program.

This hands-on therapy program impacts the lives of the children with autism we support by building their skills and abilities in every area of development.

You can make a difference for our kids and other charities by coming out and playing!

World Autism Awareness Day

“Raise the Flag” is an internationally recognized initiative that encourages Member States of the United Nations to raise awareness about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder throughout the world.

On this day at Giant Steps, we would usually have been raising the flag and celebrating with special activities at our school & therapy centre for kids with autism.

Instead, like everyone, our kids and families were at home due to COVID-19 … with the added challenges children with autism have dealing with changes in routines and the interruption of their life-changing therapies and programming. World Autism Awareness Day landed during an unprecedented and uncertain time for all of us and for many organizations and charities.

We reminded our donors and friends that their amazing support is still needed, and asked that they STAY WITH US NOW …

And their donations made a difference for our kids … helping fund their kids’ speech, behaviour and occupational therapy programs.

You can still donate now …

Our heartfelt thanks & warm wishes to each and every one of our generous donors!

Organized and run by our dedicated parent group, our Annual Rummage Sale for Kids with Autism takes place at Giant Steps, 35 Flowervale Road in Markham.

Due to COVID-19, our spring 2020 event was cancelled. We look forward to 2021!

Colours of the Spectrum

As part of Kids Fest, a visiting artist program, Tangled Art + Disability displayed artwork made by our students in the creative art workshops artist Carrie Perreault ran at Giant Steps in April 2018.

Their wonderful creations were an awesome kick-off to World Autism Month!

Our heartfelt thanks go out to Kids Fest and Carrie for enriching our kids’ programming and for her generous donations of art supplies.
