Fundraising events and activities help fund our children’s therapy + life skills programs

Giving Tuesday
December 2, 2025

This year, Giving Tuesday is on December 2, a day when Canadians make a difference for others by donating to their favourite charities. Giving Tuesday donations help ensure that kids with autism receive our life-changing programs.

Children with autism desperately need personalized therapy and life skills programs to learn to speak or communicate via technology, read, play and socialize with others, care for themselves and navigate the unique challenges of living with autism. Your Giving Tuesday contributions directly enable the kids at Giant Steps to gain these new skills and abilities.

While Giving Tuesday is still ahead, any day is a great day to make a difference for kids with autism here at Giant Steps. Make your donation today!

Bingo volunteers needed!
Year Round

Charitable gaming at Bingo World provides Giant Steps with critical funding for our kids’ therapy programs, thanks to our volunteers who are essential to this charitable initiative.

We are looking for volunteers 18 years of age and older to work at Bingo World Richmond Hill. THIS IS AN ONGOING OPPORTUNITY.

Volunteers work in pairs and represent Giant Steps in the gaming centre. Orientation is required and provided for this easy customer service role which involves standing and walking around the centre throughout your 2 hour shift. Shifts would be every 1-2 months.

Giant Steps’ 1st Annual Golf Tournament
May 30, 2025

What a Day!

Giant Steps hosted our 1ST ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT on Friday May 30, 2025.

After a cold and wet start to spring, we were thankful for clear skies and the perfect sunny day for golf. Our 112 golfers enjoyed a shotgun/scramble tournament on a beautiful course and good times in the clubhouse with great food, drinks, prizes and much camaraderie.

We are grateful for our generous hole, prize and gift bag sponsors, and send a special shoutout to everyone at our host club. Thanks to you all, our first tournament was a smashing success!

NEWSFLASH! We’ll be hitting the links again on Friday May 29, 2026 for our 2ND ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT – more news on that to come!

April 2, 2025 Kicked Off World Autism Month
April 2, 2025

A global effort to increase understanding & acceptance of people with autism

Recognized by the United Nations, World Autism Awareness Day on April 2 launched World Autism Month which promotes the human rights and fundamental freedoms for autistic people.

During World Autism Month, we are always especially grateful for our donors and friends who ensure that Giant Steps’ life-changing programs are here for children with autism.

It’s a month to be especially mindful of what we can do everyday to make a difference for others …. by celebrating diversity and practising respect, kindness and inclusion, especially for autistic persons and their families.

Thank you for your donations during World Autism Month; if you missed out, you can still make your donation now!

Ontario Trillium Foundation Recognition Event
January 16, 2025

With gratitude for the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s recent grants, we welcomed Markham Unionville MPP Billy Pang and Ontario Trillium Foundation Volunteer Richard Farmer to Giant Steps on January 16, 2025.

MPP Pang and Richard Farmer toured our centre to see and hear about the new resources and equipment that are making such a difference for our kids and staff.

A $48,200 Resilient Communities Fund grant has enabled us to purchase new occupational therapy and sensory equipment, laptops, software and apps, upgrades for our therapy assessment tools and our client management system. Staff and families are also benefiting from professional development and mental health and wellness workshops. A $28,500 Capital grant has funded additional OT and sensory equipment including a climbing tower, trampolines, a treadmill, exercise bike, portable swing and snowboard exerciser.

We are thankful for these Ontario Trillium Foundation grants thatare providing our kids with new opportunities for physical activity, sensory exploration and access to technology, our staff and families with much-needed mental health supports, and our therapists with the most current specialized tools and resources.
